Evolution and tradition: reviving the Passatge de les Manufactures

Travel back to the past to return to the present and reinvent yourself. That is exactly the journey embarked on by the Passatge de Les Manufactures. During the Middle Ages, the nerve centre of Barcelona’s textile industry was located in these streets, but this Thursday, May 10, it will take a new turn: the space becomes part of the Yurbban hotel, occupying what used to be textile warehouses, and turns them into part of its spa facilities, while also bringing the passageway back to life with a highly varied offering. A breath of fresh air was needed, because over the years the factories gradually disappeared and the passageway fell into oblivion. It was time to renew it, but it was not simply about recovering the space; it was also about giving it meaning that would pay tribute to its past while revitalising the area to face the challenges of the future. The artist Antoni Yranzo was entrusted with this difficult task and succeeded: the artist created an installation of footprints to convey the key message that vehicles have never passed through there, only hundreds upon hundreds of footsteps.

Several surprises have been created in this new passageway, in addition to the hotel. A wide gastronomic offering is what will most whet your appetite.
