Spain's first vegan spa, in a building with a rich history in Barcelona's Passatge de les Manufactures. From the Middle Ages until the 19th century, this passageway was home to various textile businesses, which is now reflected in an exhibition located within the premises called Petjades (Footprints), showcasing its past and present history. The passageway is now a charming corner of art and gastronomy. The refurbishment had one clear goal: to turn it into a place where both art and gastronomy could come together. The hotel continues with that philosophy, displaying paintings by different artists from Galería Senda, without overlooking the relaxation options it offers: a heated pool, sauna, steam bath and individual or couples' treatment rooms.
Yurbban Hotels offers the chance to enjoy the surroundings like a true local, allowing guests to experience the city from the inside. Without giving up the conveniences we are accustomed to, its revolutionary Concierge 2.0 service and mobile phones with 24-hour connectivity are available to guests. In this way, with the Porter & Sail app, the trip can be planned from the moment of booking, with routes and tips to help guests discover the city's secrets.
The facilities are cared for down to the last detail, with decoration playing a leading role. Raquel Sogorb was responsible for the design, opting for understated interiors with noble, 100% natural materials such as oak, walnut and linen, which can be appreciated in its 60 rooms divided into Standard, Terrace and Premium categories. Multisensory treatments to reconnect body, mind and spirit are available every day of the week. All cosmetics used are natural, vegan and free from DBP toxins.
Its gastronomic offering is one of its strongest points and is entirely healthy. Guests at Yurbban Passage Hotel & Spa can enjoy an authentic local breakfast feast. The d'Aprop restaurant offers a highly varied menu and has Xavier Franco, a Michelin-starred consulting chef. There is also the more casual Flax&Kale restaurant. But it isn't all about healthy living: sustainability is another of its priorities. For example, the hangers in the rooms are biodegradable. Guests can also choose to reuse towels to save energy and water, as well as explore the city in the most environmentally friendly way: by bicycle.

Buffet with local produce, music by Luna and an area that's the new ‘place to be’. What could go wrong?
It's Sunday morning. I walk into Hotel Yurbban. The smell of comfort. Plensa in the middle of the lobby. Order in the restaurant. I arrive while breakfast is still untouched and the tables are perfectly aligned. That moment when everything is still about to happen. I claim the table by the windows overlooking Passatge Mercader, presided over by artist Antoni Yranzo with a mobile artwork. They tell me it's calledPetjades : a great way to explain the past and present of the surroundings. The full weight of history in a street, in a mobile piece that draws the eye and respects the context, just like the hotel.
At the bar, a buffet packed with local produce. Playing is This time around by Luna. I hadn't listened to them in years and suddenly it takes me back to the last time I saw them live. Back again: the hotel's lighting is warm and the interior design simple. It has everything without anything in particular. It makes you feel comfortable and want to stay. And inevitably, you end up going down to Signature Organic Spa, where all the products are organic, vegan and toxic free : the future.

Evolution and tradition: reviving the Passatge de les Manufactures

Travel back to the past to return to the present and reinvent yourself. That is exactly the journey embarked on by the Passatge de Les Manufactures. During the Middle Ages, the nerve centre of Barcelona's textile industry was located in these streets, but this Thursday, May 10, it will take a new turn: the space becomes part of the Yurbban hotel, occupying what used to be textile warehouses, and turns them into part of its spa facilities, while also bringing the passageway back to life with a highly varied offering. A breath of fresh air was needed, because over the years the factories gradually disappeared and the passageway fell into oblivion. It was time to renew it, but it was not simply about recovering the space; it was also about giving it meaning that would pay tribute to its past while revitalising the area to face the challenges of the future. The artist Antoni Yranzo was entrusted with this difficult task and succeeded: the artist created an installation of footprints to convey the key message that vehicles have never passed through there, only hundreds upon hundreds of footsteps.
Several surprises have been created in this new passageway, in addition to the hotel. A wide gastronomic offering is what will most whet your appetite. The healthy restaurant Flax&Kale Passage and the ancestral cuisine of D’Aprop will take care of that. Then you can relax at Spain's first vegan spa. The Signature Organic Spa will offer beauty treatments that provide holistic, multisensory experiences to relax, nourish and reconnect mind, body and spirit.
